ASA TO VISIT PROJECT FAME CONTESTANTS

International soul singer Asa is set to visit the contestants of the MTN Project Fame Season 3.

The show's producers Ultima Studios disclosed today that the Nigerian singer who has gained international acclaim since the release of her self-titled album in late 2007 will on Thursday enter the Performance Academy to mentor and advice the contestants. The 18 contestants will have a lot to gain from Asa seeing that she has performed at numerous shows and concerts abroad as well as headlining major tours and music festivals. Asa will share her experience as an upcoming talent; and tell the remarkable story of her rise to international fame.

As a tribute to the singer who has proudly flown the Nigerian flag, the contestants will be performing her songs this Saturday at this week's performance show. The contestants will also perform select numbers from Tracy Chapman.

Asa will also be on hand to judge the contestants when performing. Obviously the highlight of the evening will be when the singer mounts the stage to perform some of her hit songs.

In 2007 Asa dropped her heavily soul-influenced debut album, Asa. Her album proved to be the revelation of the year as her album spread around the country like wildfire. Her impressive debut led her to winning several awards including four awards at Hip Hop World Awards 2008.

Her album was also released internationally in Europe and was met with critical acclaim and commercial success. Her success has led her to performing alongside big names such as Tracy Chapman and Amy Winehouse. She also won the highly- coveted Constantin prize.

As this season's Project Fame continues, expect to see more big stars on stage performing their hit tunes and most importantly share tips and give advice to the contestants.
